Toyota’s North Carolina-based battery manufacturing facility is poised to begin production, marking a significant milestone for the automaker. As the first in-house battery plant outside Japan, Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) is set to supply batteries for hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric vehicles (HEVs, PHEVs, BEVs) starting in April.
The nearly $14 billion facility is Toyota’s 11th manufacturing plant in the United States and will create approximately 5,000 jobs. This investment is part of Toyota’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in North America and support the region’s transition to electric mobility.
The plant, which was established in November 2021, is a key component of Toyota’s “best-in-town” approach—investing locally, supporting community growth, and creating products tailored to the needs of the North American market. Toyota’s total U.S. investment now stands at $49 billion, helping to sustain over 280,000 jobs across the industry.
With this new venture, Toyota continues its commitment to local manufacturing and job creation, playing a pivotal role in both the electric vehicle revolution and the regional economy.
