Head coach Zac Taylor will be heading into his fifth season with the Bengals in 2023 and he’s only 39 years old. So how long is he planning to stick around in Cincinnati?
“They’re gonna have to carry me out of here in a casket,” Taylor said. “I love it. Just specifically, Cincinnati. It’s a really good fit for my family … I just can’t imagine myself anywhere else. They’ll have to kick me out of here.”
It’s the answer all Bengals fans were hoping to hear after Taylor led the team to two straight AFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance.
Although, things were starting to look a little grim after his first two seasons with back-to-back sub-five-win seasons. But Taylor was able to turn things around and has his team ready to be competitive for many years to come.
It also helps that Cincinnati has one of the best quarterbacks in the game in Joe Burrow. And with the team planning to pay Burrow with a potential market-setting contract extension this offseason, Taylor is looking to go anywhere.
It’s a rarity that coaches stick around for a long time in a league with an impatience for success and burning out. However, if Taylor has it his way, he’ll be coaching for a long, long time.
