You never know what will go down in the Bay Area. Last night YG brought the city out for his Red Cup Tour in Oakland. While he took the time to show Bay Area artists Lil Kayla, Da Boii, D-Lo & others on stage, it was his former artist Kamaiyah that had everyone shook! If you recall, the former First Lady 4Hunnid Records and YG had a very public beef. The root of the drama came from Kamaiyah feeling that the label wasn’t the most supportive environment, which led to a falling out that dissolved her and YG’s working relationship.
In 2020 she told Uproxx that she wanted an apology from the rapper. The Oakland native said,
“There was some things said that until you rectify and apologize, I feel like, ‘What’s the point in me having a conversation?’” she elaborated. “”‘Cause then, I’m pacifying your actions. And me being a woman and a queen that stand on my word I felt like you gotta be a man and stand on yours and apologize for some off the things that was said and done.”
We reached out to Kamaiyah, affectionately known as Yaya, to find out what happened behind the scenes to get her to grace the stage with her once-former rival. She explained,
“They asked if I would come to Oakland, etc., and I was going home to get my hair braided for Grammy weekend, so it worked out.”
Kamaiyah also shared that YG apologized during the performance of her hit song “F**k it up,” which he is featured. Yaya made it clear that YG doesn’t care what people say on the blogs, and he loves her.
Yaya also spoke on her relationship with YG, sharing,
“We’re like brother and sister, have the same management, etc. We were just going thru a public family quarrel because we severed business ties, that’s all, lol.” We asked Yaya if she had plans of returning to 4Hunnid following her Instagram story, but she said, “It’s just a joke. It’s been mentioned, but nothing is confirmed.”
She ended the conversation by confirming the two have new music on the way! We love to see it!
Roomies, are you ready for new music from Kamaiyah and YG?
