Metsä is a new three-piece line of personal cleansers from Ole Hyvä that features a unique antioxidant compound made from forest industry side stream sawdust. This personal care product line makes the most of Montinutra’s Boreal Bioproducts SpruceSugar and it’s the first time that this ingredient has been used in this way for cosmetic products.
The shower gel, shampoo and liquid hand soap products are all vegan, biodegradable and infused with SpruceSugar, the all-natural hemicellulose extract obtained from sustainable spruce sawmilling side streams. All the while supporting the responsible use of natural resources, this ingredient helps to boost the antioxidant capacity of personal care products.
“SpruceSugar is a prime example of how underutilized side streams can be upcycled into a novel product that has a large variety of usage cases,” said Katariina Kemppainen, SVP, Group R&D at Metsä Spring, Metsä Group’s innovation company.
