Ukraine is projected to need an additional 8.6 million workers by 2032 due to the combined effects of war-related disruptions and longstanding low birth rates. This estimate, outlined in a report by Romina Bandura for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), highlights the significant demographic challenges the country will face in the coming decade.

The report, “Ukraine’s Future Rests on Its People: Strengthening Ukraine’s Workforce and Human Capital,” stresses that these negative demographic trends, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict, are depleting the country’s workforce. To ensure long-term economic stability and growth, Ukraine will need to prioritize workforce development, attract skilled labor, and enhance human capital.

Addressing this gap is crucial for Ukraine’s recovery and future prosperity, making investment in education, workforce integration, and economic resilience imperative.
