📍 Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Army has awarded Lockheed Martin a $9.8 billion multiyear contract to produce nearly 2,000 Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) interceptors, the company confirmed on Wednesday. The agreement, covering fiscal years 2024 through 2026, marks the largest contract in the history of Lockheed’s Missiles and Fire Control division.
The PAC-3 MSE is a high-precision missile defense system designed to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, hypersonic threats, and aircraft. Its hit-to-kill technology delivers greater kinetic energy than traditional explosive warheads, making it a key component of modern air and missile defense strategies.
Lockheed Martin plans to deliver over 600 interceptors in 2025, ramping up production ahead of schedule due to internal investments. Seventeen partner nations, including the U.S., currently field the PAC-3 system, reflecting growing global demand amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
Army officials emphasized that the multiyear procurement will accelerate delivery timelines, strengthen supply chains, and ensure cost predictability. The contract also supports broader efforts to replenish U.S. missile stockpiles and enhance readiness in response to ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
