WASHINGTON — The U.S. State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale to the United Kingdom for C-17 Globemaster III Aircraft Sustainment Support, valued at an estimated $861 million, the Pentagon confirmed Tuesday.
The proposed package includes contractor logistics support, engine components, spare parts, software, technical documentation, and engineering services to maintain the operational readiness of the Royal Air Force’s C-17 fleet. The principal contractor for the deal is Boeing Co., headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.
According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the sale aligns with U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by strengthening the capabilities of a key NATO ally. The UK’s C-17 fleet plays a critical role in strategic airlift operations supporting U.S. and coalition missions worldwide.
No U.S. personnel will be deployed to the UK as part of the deal, and the agreement is not expected to impact U.S. defense readiness. Congress has been formally notified, and final terms will be subject to negotiation and budgetary approval.
