ANKARA — President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has declared Türkiye a central player in international peace diplomacy, emphasizing the country’s growing role as a sought-after mediator in both regional and global conflicts.

Speaking to members of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) during a parliamentary group meeting, Erdoğan underscored Türkiye’s rising influence in global affairs.

“Türkiye has become a nation whose support, assistance, and mediation are actively sought in the resolution of regional and international crises,” he said. “We are proud to be at the forefront of peace diplomacy.”

The Turkish leader pointed to the country’s recent mediation efforts and humanitarian outreach as evidence of its evolving diplomatic stature.

Appreciation for U.S. Action on Syria

President Erdoğan also expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for the recent decision to lift economic sanctions on Syria, describing it as a constructive step.

“We welcome the U.S. move to lift economic sanctions on Syria. It is a positive development, and we hope it will pave the way for greater stability in the region,” Erdoğan said.

Hope for Gaza

In closing, the President voiced cautious optimism regarding developments in the Gaza Strip, hinting at the possibility of encouraging news on the horizon.

“We remain hopeful for good news from Gaza. Türkiye continues to work tirelessly to support peace and alleviate the suffering in the region,” he stated.

Türkiye has increasingly positioned itself as a mediator in some of the world’s most volatile conflicts, including negotiations related to the Russia-Ukraine war, Syria, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, while also expanding its humanitarian footprint through aid and development programs.
