The European Union will deliver €20 million in humanitarian aid to support vulnerable refugees living in Türkiye. The funding will be channelled to humanitarian partners working in the country, in close cooperation with Turkish authorities, to address refugees’ basic needs such as protection, health, water and sanitation and education in emergencies.
The aid will target refugees who have limited to no access to government services, including the most vulnerable who continue to suffer from the consequences of the 2023 earthquake as well as refugees and migrant groups with specific needs. The country currently hosts approximately 3 million registered refugees, mainly from Syria, along with those from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran and an unknown number of unregistered individuals.
