The Confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises (CONECT) begins its business mission to Togo and Benin today.

The mission will last until next Saturday and aims to offer Tunisian businesses the opportunity to invest in the two countries. It follows CONECT’s call for applications, where the organization specifically requested enterprises operating within the construction, digital services, higher education and pharmaceutical industries.

Trade between the three countries has grown notably in recent years. In July 2022, The Tunisian-African Business Council dispatched its first economic mission to Togo, with the Council highlighting Togo as containing great opportunities for investors. In December 2022, Porto-Novo and Lomé launched the Regional Agricultural Market Integration Program, aiming to stimulate agricultural trade between their two countries.

The businesses on the CONECT mission are likely to express a strong desire for investment in Togo and Benin, particularly given that Togo’s strong construction materials market and Benin’s major telecommunications market are well in line with the business interests of CONECT. As both Benin and Togo have seen improved economic growth in the wake of their efforts to increase trade, they are likely to support this trend, potentially setting the stage for further future investment and regional cooperation.
