Trump Says Netanyahu Backs 20-Point Gaza Peace Plan, Hamas Yet to Agree

President Donald Trump told reporters on Sunday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has endorsed his proposed 20-point framework to end the war in Gaza, though Hamas has not formally agreed to the initiative.

The White House released the full plan on September 29, outlining measures to:

  • Halt hostilities and begin a phased Israeli withdrawal once both sides accept the agreement.
  • Secure the immediate release of all hostages within 72 hours of Israel’s public acceptance, followed by prisoner exchanges for deceased Gazans and living detainees.
  • Establish a temporary technocratic body—supervised by Trump and international experts such as former UK prime minister Tony Blair—to govern Gaza and oversee reconstruction and public services.
  • Disarm Hamas and other armed factions, destroy military infrastructure and create a special economic zone to drive redevelopment and job creation in the enclave.

Trump insisted the plan “calls for a deradicalized, terror-free zone” and “full aid” delivered without interference by each party’s forces. While Netanyahu’s apparent backing marks a notable step, Hamas has yet to receive or formally respond to the proposal. The president said he remains “very confident” that all parties can be brought on board and that swift negotiations will follow to implement the plan.
