The Nobu Hotel Palo Alto gets a redesigned look with the help of Montalba Architects as a project that is full of intricate updates and embodies a ryokan inspiration. The location blends modern elements seamlessly together with traditional Japanese themes with a focus on sustainability throughout the tranquil space. Starting with a look at The Nobu Hotel Palo Alto Restaurant is a complementary feature to the location but is an independent space accessible through the lobby.
The dining experience is both indoor and outdoor overlooking the traditional Japanese landscaping met by the modern interiors. David Montalba, Founding principal at the studio notes that “Overall the design was driven by ideas of composition and warmth of materiality – thinking about how we consider air, water, light, nourishment, comfort and tranquility of mind when seeking a retreat in an urban setting.”
