Foldable design, because of its compactness and portability, seems to be key in this sphere. The Engwe EP-2 Pro mountain bike, which weighs only 74 pounds, and the Venture E-Scooter by British company Zinc Spots both rely on foldable design for their body. The eco-conscious trend continues from the vehicle to the road with the ‘Loop’—a 93-kilometer-long climate-controlled cycling path in Dubai that was designed by local studio Urb.
The Mach 2023 eco list also spotlights sustainable transportation innovations in the air as aviation company Lilium recently announced it is developing an eVTOL aircraft with a battery supplied by Ionblox.
