Three 6 Mafia’s Gangsta Boo Reportedly Died From Overdose

Former Three 6 Mafia member Gangsta Boo reportedly died from an drug overdose with narcotics allegedly found on her person, a newly-released report revealed.

The late rapper and her brother had attended a concert together in Memphis on Saturday night, where her sibling ended up hospitalized from a drug overdose, according to TMZ.

Citing sources close to the rapper, the outlet reports that while her brother recovered, Gangsta Boo, who was not hospitalized, did not.

Boo, whose real name is Lola C. Mitchell, was discovered deceased Sunday afternoon at age 43. Sources added that drugs were found on Mitchell’s person.

Police have since launched an investigation into her death, however it’s suspected that a fentanyl-laced substance was likely the cause.

Official results are pending an autopsy and toxicology report, the outlet reports.

The “Stay Fly” rapper’s publicist has yet to release an official statement, however she did confirm the news on Instagram, alongside a series of tributes, including Gangsta Boo’s final message to her.

Cleveland-based rapper King Chip said he “grew up on her music” and called Gangsta Boo “a household name in the ghettos of America and loved all across the world.”

“Gangsta Boo was SUCH a beautiful Queen, inside and out. I’m so grateful to have been able to know you and share good times with you,” tweeted King Chip.

“Wow. I grew up on your music and you are a household name the the ghettos of America and loved all across the world!!! You will be missed 🌹,” he added.

K. Michelle wrote “you already know what it is. We FOREVER! Broke my whole heart today sis. I love you “#memphis R.I.P Gangsta Boo.”

Biz Markie called Gangsta Boo “the First Lady of southern rap,” who “never spit a bad verse.”

Gangsta Boo Reportedly Was Kicked Off Of Reality Show For Drug Use Prior To Her Passing

Gangsta Boo did not have any children at the time of her passing. She was reportedly kicked off of the show Marriage Boot Camp in May for drugs after a white powered substance was allegedly found in her room, according to All Hip Hop.

The rapper had been on the show with her former boyfriend Emmet Flores.

Boo began rapping at age 14, according to Essence magazine, and joined Academy Award-winning collective Three 6 Mafia at the age of 15 back in 1994, Billboard reports.

Surviving current and former members of Three 6 Mafia include DJ Paul, Juicy J and Crunchy Black.
