Kyiv, 30 September 2025 — The Princess Royal has made a discreet visit to Ukraine at the request of the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, underscoring Britain’s solidarity with families enduring the ongoing conflict.

During her time in Kyiv, Her Royal Highness met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the UK’s continued political and humanitarian support for Ukraine. The meeting highlighted the enduring partnership between London and Kyiv as the war enters its third year.

In a poignant moment, the Princess joined First Lady Olena Zelenska at the Children’s Memorial, where she laid a toy bear in remembrance of the hundreds of children who have lost their lives since the Russian invasion began in 2022. The gesture symbolised both personal compassion and the UK’s broader commitment to supporting Ukraine’s most vulnerable.

The visit also drew attention to the traumatic experiences of children living on the frontline, many of whom have been displaced, injured, or separated from their families. According to Ukrainian authorities, more than 19,500 children have been forcibly transferred or deported to Russia and occupied territories since the start of the war.

The Princess Royal’s trip follows similar visits by other members of the British royal family, reflecting a consistent show of support for Ukraine from the UK at both governmental and symbolic levels.
