It’s been seven seasons since Kevin Durant last suited up for the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the fans there still have not forgotten how they were unceremoniously dumped by their former MVP when he bolted out the door and headed to Golden State, where he won two title along with two NBA Finals MVPs. On Sunday, Durant returned as a member of the Phoenix Suns, and the boo-birds came out in droves. Head coach Monty Williams, who was an assistant in OKC during K.D.’s final season there, is a bit taken aback at all the hard feelings toward Durant. “I’m still surprised at how many people; why they boo him here,” Williams said. “I don’t understand that. I think this fan base is one that I’ve respected for a long time, and I get it. You lose a guy like Kevin. I think at some point, you have to appreciate what he meant to this organization.”
