Texas Instruments has announced a $60 billion investment to expand its semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S.—the largest single investment in foundational chip production in the nation’s history.

The plan includes the construction or expansion of seven fabrication plants across Texas and Utah, with key sites in Sherman, Richardson, and Lehi. The Sherman campus will receive up to $40 billion to build four fabs, two of which are already underway.

The expansion is expected to create up to 60,000 jobs and will focus on producing 300-millimeter analog and embedded processing chips—vital components for sectors such as automotive, healthcare, consumer electronics, and data infrastructure.

The move aligns with U.S. government efforts under the CHIPS and Science Act to boost domestic semiconductor manufacturing. Texas Instruments received up to $1.6 billion in federal funding last year and is seen as playing a strategic role in securing the national supply chain for essential electronic components.
