LOS ANGELES — Pop icon Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have announced their engagement, marking a new chapter in one of pop culture’s most high-profile relationships. The couple shared the news on August 26 via a joint Instagram post featuring Kelce proposing in a rose-filled garden.
The caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” playfully referenced Swift’s songwriting persona and Kelce’s athletic career, while also nodding to Swift’s track “So High School,” widely believed to be inspired by their relationship.
Kelce presented Swift with a vintage-style engagement ring designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The ring features an old mine brilliant-cut diamond set in a gold bezel, surrounded by intricate filigree and smaller stones.
Swift and Kelce began dating in 2023 after Kelce publicly expressed interest in meeting her during her Eras Tour. Their relationship quickly gained public attention, with Swift frequently attending Chiefs games and Kelce making appearances during her concerts.
The engagement comes just weeks before the release of Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and ahead of the NFL season kickoff. No wedding date has been announced.
