Tánaiste Welcomes Delivery of Irish Food Aid to Gaza

World

Ireland has delivered emergency food aid to support over 42,000 people in Gaza, as Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Harris reaffirmed the country’s commitment to humanitarian relief amid worsening conditions in the region.

Lifeline for Thousands

On 30 October 2025, the Irish government confirmed the successful delivery of 8,400 food parcels to Gaza, coordinated by Plan International Ireland with funding and logistical support from Irish Aid. Each parcel provides two meals a day for a family of five over five days, reaching an estimated 42,000 individuals facing acute food insecurity.

Tánaiste Simon Harris described the situation in Gaza as “dire,” emphasizing that while the aid is only a partial response, it offers a vital lifeline to families living in “intolerable conditions.”

Continued Humanitarian Support

The food delivery follows Ireland’s shipment of 750 family tents to Gaza the previous week, part of a broader humanitarian effort in response to escalating needs.

Ireland has provided over €35 million in aid to Palestine in 2025 alone, and €89 million since October 2023, supporting emergency relief, shelter, healthcare, and food security through trusted international partners.

Strategic Partnerships

Plan International Ireland, a long-standing humanitarian partner, facilitated the transport of food parcels into Gaza by road, navigating complex logistics and security challenges. The Tánaiste praised their efforts, stating: “Our partner has worked hard to ensure that this essential food aid has made it into Gaza.”

Outlook

As the humanitarian crisis deepens, Ireland has pledged to scale up its support, calling on the international community to ensure unimpeded access for aid delivery and uphold the protection of civilians under international law.

Conclusion
Ireland’s latest food aid delivery underscores its ongoing commitment to humanitarian action in Gaza, providing critical relief to tens of thousands while advocating for sustained international support and accountability.
