Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Simon Harris TD, is currently in New York as part of his Saint Patrick’s Day Programme, with a focus on bolstering Ireland’s economic and business relations with the United States. On March 18, Harris will engage with key economic actors in New York, a global hub for trade, finance, and technology.
The day will start with a visit to Bank of Ireland’s NYC hub, where Harris will meet with members of the Digital Irish organisation. The discussions will center on Ireland’s initiatives to foster entrepreneurship, innovation, and a robust start-up ecosystem.
Later, Harris will hold meetings with senior corporate decision-makers from major US multinationals. The discussions will focus on global economic trends, transatlantic trade, and the growing economic ties between Ireland and the United States, with an eye on current and future opportunities.
The day will conclude with a promotion of the 2027 Ryder Cup in County Limerick, an event that promises to bring significant tourism and business opportunities for both Irish and US enterprises, in collaboration with Tourism Ireland.
Harris commented: “Strengthening Ireland’s economic relationship with the US is essential, especially in times of global uncertainty. As Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, my priority is engaging directly with key partners to navigate evolving economic challenges, while working closely with our EU counterparts to ensure Ireland’s continued economic growth.”
