LUANDA — UAE-based satellite operator Space42 has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISM), marking a significant step in bilateral cooperation on advanced technology development.
The agreement, formalised during a state visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Angola, outlines joint efforts across seven priority areas: satellite communications, earth observation, artificial intelligence, high-altitude platforms (HAPS), national security drones, border control systems, and command and control centre development.
Space42, which already provides full national coverage in Angola through its YahClick satellite broadband service, plans to enhance its offerings with expanded capabilities from the recently launched Thuraya-4 satellite. The company said the MoU builds on years of service in Angola and reflects a deepening commitment to the country’s technological and security infrastructure.
“This partnership represents a natural evolution of our relationship with Angola,” said Space42 Chief Commercial Officer Sulaiman Al Ali. “We’re excited to collaborate on solutions that can support national resilience and improve everyday lives.”
The agreement follows high-level meetings in the UAE between General João Pereira Massano, head of SISM, and Space42’s executive team, during which live demonstrations showcased the company’s AI-powered space technologies.
The MoU is expected to accelerate Angola’s adoption of space-based intelligence and digital infrastructure, positioning the country as a regional leader in defence and innovation.
