And you probably also know that Silicon Valley Bank was shut down by bank regulators a few weeks ago, and that the financial world has been in an overall panic about the news ever since.
So, according to the Hollywood Reporter, last week Sharon received the Courage Award at a fundraiser for the Women’s Cancer Research Fund.
At one point during her speech, Sharon asked the crowd to donate money to the WCRF, and in doing so, she made a surprising admission regarding her own financial status.
“I know that thing that you have to get on and figure out how to text the money is difficult,” she said, presumably talking about the technical aspects of making a donation. “I’m a technical idiot, but I can write a fucking check.”
“And right now, that’s courage, too, because I know what’s happening. I just lost half my money to this banking thing, and that doesn’t mean that I’m not here.”
Now, Sharon didn’t specify any further as to what happened with her money — but it seems like a pretty safe bet that she was talking about SVB. Who knows, though!
We’ll let you know if she shares any more details about the situation.
