SEA Milan Airports has implemented FaceBoarding at Linate, allowing travellers to check-in and board using biometric facial recognition technology. The service is available to all airlines that want to integrate their check-in and boarding systems with the FaceBoarding system. ITA Airways and SAS – Scandinavian Airlines are the first to join the project.
FaceBoarding optimises the passenger experience by allowing those who have previously registered through the kiosks at the airport or directly from their mobile devices (the mobile app will be available from June) to reduce the time it takes to check their identity documents and increase their security.
The solution is the evolution of the previous test phase and, similarly, is based on the voluntary adherence of the passenger with annual or individual flight registration.
With this safe, simple and fast technology, FaceBoarding, in addition to offering greater speed of controls, increases their effectiveness and ensures the protection of privacy and passenger data.
The SEA Milan Airports partners in the project are Thales and dormakaba (an exhibitor at FTE Global, Los Angeles, 28-30 October 2024), which developed the biometric processing system and the dedicated gates, respectively.
