Robert Glasper Turns Chris Brown’s Diss Into T-Shirt For Charity

Entertainment

After losing the ‘Best R&B Album’ Grammy award to Robert Glasper, Chris Brown asked his 130+ million Insta-followers “who the f**k” he is. Chris later apologized after learning more about the jazz pianist’s musical contributions and far-reaching recognition, including his 12 lifetime Grammy nominations and five wins.

But, instead of a clapback, Glasper used Brown’s insult to raise money for a music nonprofit in New Orleans. Last week, he released ‘Who The F**K Is Robert Glasper’ t-shirts. The limited edition black tee features a laughing emotion as the O in the word who. A blue dash slightly obscures the word f**k, and the pianist’s name is in a red-colored font, while the remaining words are white. Its entire design is a replica of one of Brown’s posts.

On Wednesday, just four days after their release, Glasper announced that the t-shirts sold out. Additionally, a portion of the sale funds will benefit the Community Music Center of New Orleans.

In the sold-out announcement post, Robert wrote:

“Thanks for the support. A portion of the proceeds from this shirt will be donated to the Community Music Center of New Orleans. A nonprofit created to share the music culture and music education in New Orleans, providing free music lessons to underserved youth. I can’t thank y’all enough for supporting this cause.”

It’s unclear how much money Robert raised or what percentage he plans to donate. Unfortunately, as of Thursday, the sale link is no longer available in Glasper’s Instagram bio link. As a result, we cannot confirm how much each shirt sold for.

Nonetheless, the donation comes weeks before the Community Music Center of New Orleans hosts its inaugural gala and fundraising event later this month. Glasper is listed as a board member of the nonprofit on the event flyer.

Here’s Why Chris Brown Apologized To Robert Glasper Following Grammy Win

It’s unclear if Chris has seen Glasper’s diss-to-donation move. The No Guidance singer is touring Europe for the next few months.

Chris and Glasper crossed paths online after Brown’s rant about Robert’s Black Radio III winning ‘Best R&B Album.’ His Breezy (Deluxe) album was also nominated in the same category.

By the next day (Feb. 6), Chris slid into Robert’s Insta-DMs with a lengthy congratulations and apology. It’s unclear if Robert ever responded to Chris privately, but he hasn’t directly acknowledged Brown’s initial critiques–minus the t-shirt sale.

“Congratulations my brother. I would like to apologize if you took offense to my reaction at the Grammys. You were not the intended target and I know I came off really rude and mean. After doing my research I actually think you’re amazing.”
