The Ravens have lost more players than they have added throughout free agency and that streak continued Wednesday as one of their veteran leaders joined another team.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that defensive end Calais Campbell intends to sign a one-year deal with the Falcons after visiting Atlanta last week.
After releasing Campbell, the Ravens indicated that they weren’t closing the door on the possibility of him returning. However, the door is officially closed, and the team must say goodbye to the 15-year veteran.
The 2019 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year will surely be missed in the Ravens’ locker room, as he was a leader on and off the field. The six-time Pro Bowler totaled 113 tackles, 11 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery during his three years in Baltimore.
Campbell is joining a young team in the Falcons, similar to when he joined the Ravens in 2020. He will be an integral part of changing the culture in Atlanta.
Baltimore must now add another position to its list of needs this offseason and the Ravens might not be done losing players yet after QB Lamar Jackson announced he requested a trade on March 2.
