Public consultation on the EU Civil Protection Mechanism

Human Rights

Disasters know no borders. They can affect any country, anywhere in the world. Europe is no exception.

As disasters potentially affect every person in the EU, we would like to gather views about the EU’s role in civil protection, from both the public at large and the organisations and people involved in the work of the mechanism in a more specialised capacity.

For this purpose, the European Commission launched a public consultation to assess the implementation of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism legislation in the period 2017 to 2022.

The public consultation is part of a study to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, coherence, relevance, sustainability and EU added value of the Mechanism.

As part of the study, the European Commission is gathering feedback and data from a wide array of key stakeholders at EU, national and international level. The main stakeholder groups include government authorities and agencies, civil society bodies, experts and other participants in the work and training of the Mechanism.

The deadline for submitting feedback is midnight Brussels time on 21 July 2023.
