The Prince of Wales’s Homewards programme has unveiled its third Innovative Housing Project, aimed at tackling youth homelessness in the London borough of Lambeth.

A property owned by the Duchy of Cornwall estate will be redeveloped into 16 independent living flats for young adults aged 18 to 25. The project is being delivered in partnership with Centrepoint, a leading youth homelessness charity, where Prince William serves as patron.

Supporting Youth Independence

The Lambeth development is designed to act as a bridge between supported accommodation and the private rental sector. It will offer affordable housing linked to individual income levels, enabling residents to build financial resilience while pursuing employment opportunities.

Centrepoint will manage the flats under its Independent Living Programme, which provides wraparound support to help young people transition out of homelessness. A portion of the homes will be allocated to individuals moving toward employment, testing a new model that integrates housing and job readiness.

A Scalable Model for Change

Lambeth is one of six flagship locations selected by Homewards to pilot innovative solutions to homelessness. With planning approval secured, construction is expected to begin shortly, with residents anticipated to move in by the end of next year.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in Homewards’ five-year mission to make homelessness “rare, brief, and unrepeated,” and reflects Prince William’s ongoing commitment to social impact through collaborative partnerships.
