President Higgins Honoured in Poetic Celebration at National Concert Hall

DUBLIN — President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina were honoured at the National Concert Hall on Friday evening during Against All Certainty: A Celebration of Michael D. Higgins, a cultural tribute marking the release of his debut spoken-word album.

The event featured live recitations of the President’s poems, including The Death of Mary Doyle and Against All Certainty, accompanied by acclaimed musician Myles O’Reilly. Hosted by Tommy Tiernan, the evening brought together a diverse ensemble of Irish artists, poets, and musicians, including Imelda May, Martin Hayes, Paula Meehan, and Sebastian Barry.

The celebration highlighted President Higgins’s enduring commitment to the arts and his legacy as a poet and cultural advocate. His spoken-word album, released via Claddagh Records, blends literary reflection with musical composition and was recorded at Áras an Uachtaráin.

The event underscored the President’s belief in the transformative power of creativity, offering a poignant reminder of the role the arts play in shaping Ireland’s national identity.
