Ja Morant is indefinitely suspended, but the list of his troubling incidents keeps growing.
According to a police report from Germantown, Tenn., police investigated Morant after a confrontation stemming from an after-school volleyball game. After Morant’s younger sister and a male high school student argued, Ja showed up with his parents and “a group of” male adults to confront the student.
Allegedly, Morant’s mother, Jamie Morant tried to confront the student in the stands. In addition, a member of the group allegedly slapped a phone out of a different student’s hand when that student tried to photograph the Grizzlies star.
Police investigated Morant for simple assault and intimidation, but just like when he had an apparent gun in a strip club, confronted a mall security guard and punched a 17-year-old, Morant was not charged.
It’s important to note that these are just allegations, but there have been quite a few of them now, with accompanying police reports. In the volleyball story and the mall incident, a member of Morant’s family called him for help, and he showed up with overwhelming physical force.
While it’s admirable that Morant is so adamant about defending his family, he can’t be fighting teenagers, especially when there are allegations that guns were present during the confrontations.
The Grizzlies’ head of security also went to the school and was “asked to give a verbal trespass warning to all parties,” but the Grizzlies have not commented on the newest allegations.
Morant remains suspended for at least the next three games.
