Schouten Europe recently announced its new plant-based fish fillet in order to meet a growing market demand for fish substitutes after significant interest from consumers over the last two years. Similar to the demand for plant-based meat alternatives, consumers are seeking more substitutes for seafood without having to compromise great taste and the Dutch family-owned food brand has a solution.

Schouten’s plant-based fish fillet is made from a wheat and rice blend, mimicking the texture and taste of cod. The product is crisp on the outside and soft on the outside and is the perfect addition to sandwiches, fish tacos or traditional fish and chip meals that are a favorite among all ages.

The brand plans to not only offer its products in store but also “within the out-of-home channel.”
