SAN FRANCISCO — OpenAI has announced a major workforce initiative aimed at reshaping the employment landscape through artificial intelligence. The company plans to launch the OpenAI Jobs Platform by mid-2026, alongside a new certification program designed to train 10 million Americans in AI skills by 2030.
The jobs platform will use AI to match candidates with employers, offering tailored tracks for small businesses and local governments. It is backed by prominent partners including Walmart, Boston Consulting Group, Accenture, and Indeed, who will help align training with real-world industry needs.
To support the initiative, OpenAI is expanding its existing Academy with OpenAI Certifications, offering tiered credentials in AI fluency—from basic workplace applications to advanced prompt engineering. Learners can prepare directly within ChatGPT’s integrated “Study mode”.
The move positions OpenAI as a direct competitor to platforms like LinkedIn, signaling a broader ambition to build not just AI tools, but the infrastructure to empower an AI-ready workforce.
