Leading technology companies OpenAI, Nvidia, SoftBank, Oracle, Cisco, and UAE-based firm G42 have announced the creation of Stargate UAE, a major artificial intelligence infrastructure cluster in Abu Dhabi. This initiative is a sister project to the recently unveiled Stargate USA, aimed at expanding global AI capabilities.
The project was first revealed in January, when OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle executives appeared alongside President Donald Trump to announce Stargate USA, a company dedicated to building AI infrastructure in the United States. They committed up to $500 billion in investments over the coming years.
Now, the consortium has unveiled Stargate UAE, which will feature a 200-megawatt AI cluster, expected to go live in 2026. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, emphasized the project’s potential to enable breakthroughs in medicine, education, and energy, benefiting a wider global community.
According to OpenAI, Stargate UAE will provide AI infrastructure across a 2,000-mile radius, reaching nearly half the world’s population. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang praised the initiative, stating it aligns with the UAE’s bold vision for technological empowerment and economic growth.
The facility will be constructed by G42, operated jointly by OpenAI and Oracle, and powered by Nvidia’s advanced AI chips. It will be housed within a newly announced data center complex in Abu Dhabi, which will boast 5 gigawatts of capacity—enough to power a major city.
During his recent visit to the UAE, President Trump confirmed that the US and UAE will collaborate to develop this 10-square-mile complex, reinforcing their commitment to advancing AI innovation on a global scale.
