One Million Children to Pray the Rosary for Peace on October 7

World

Dublin, 6 October 2025 — On Tuesday, October 7, more than one million children worldwide will unite in prayer as part of the annual “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” campaign, organized by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). The initiative, now in its 20th year, seeks to promote global peace through the collective prayer of young people.

Strong Irish Participation

This year, the Irish office of ACN has led a particularly successful outreach effort, resulting in over 8,000 children across Ireland committing to participate. Schools from all provinces have responded enthusiastically, with teachers integrating the prayer into classroom activities and religious education.

ACN Ireland expressed gratitude to educators for their support, noting that such widespread engagement reflects a deep-rooted commitment to peace and spiritual formation among Irish schools.

Global Unity in Prayer

The campaign, held annually on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, encourages children to pray for peace in families, communities, and conflict zones. ACN emphasizes that the initiative is not only spiritual but also symbolic — demonstrating the power of unity and hope in a fractured world.

Participating countries span six continents, with children praying in churches, classrooms, and homes. The event is supported by Catholic dioceses, religious orders, and lay organizations, and is accompanied by educational materials and prayer guides translated into multiple languages.

Looking Ahead

Organizers hope the campaign will continue to grow, fostering a generation of young people committed to peace and compassion. As global conflicts persist, ACN believes that the voices of children in prayer offer a powerful counterpoint to violence and division.
