GENEVA: Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) took part in the review and discussion of the fifth and the sixth periodic reports submitted by the Sultanate of Oman to the Committee on the Rights of the Child of the Convention on the Rights of the Child at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), in Geneva.
During the review of the Sultanate of Oman’s report, a number of independent international experts of the Committee on the Rights of the Child presented some comments on the report commending the amendments that were made to the system of the OHRC and the reforms it made to enhance children’s rights.
They welcomed the steps that were taken by the OHRC to ensure the protection of children’s rights in the Sultanate of Oman.
The OHRC had previously submitted a parallel report to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in light of its purview. Reports submitted by the member states of the Convention on the Rights of the Child are under review by international independent experts. The national human commissions concerned with children’s rights are taking part in the review as observers. — ONA
