Six Nigerian nationals employed by Rado Central Coal Mining, a Chinese-owned company operating in the Central African Republic (CAR), have reportedly been left stranded and unpaid for more than six months.

Allegations of Abandonment

In a video that has gained widespread attention, the workers claimed they were abandoned in a remote location without pay or proper support. According to their account, the company failed to uphold contractual obligations, leaving them without access to wages or repatriation assistance.

Government Intervention

Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it will repatriate the affected workers. Officials stated they are coordinating efforts to ensure the group’s safe return and to evaluate the circumstances surrounding their employment.

Efforts by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre to contact Rado Central Coal Mining for comment were unsuccessful. The company has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
