On a mission to make its cosmetics more accessible for all, L’Oréal has unveiled a new motorized lipstick tool for persons with restricted mobility. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, L’Oréal unveiled the computerized applicator, ‘Hapta,’ and a product called ‘Brow Magic’ that employs augmented reality to help users achieve better application and stunning brows. To help people with limited motor skills apply lipstick steadily, the handheld ‘Hapta’ gadget employs motion controls and interchangeable attachments to level and steady the lipstick as the user draws it closer to their mouth.

“The community behind Liftware, who were already using their spoon and fork, were the ones that were requesting technology that would allow them to apply makeup,” Guive Balooch, global VP of L’Oréal, said. “About one in ten people live with some type of motor skill limitation, which is an enormous population of people, and what we can tell is that something as simple as putting on a lipstick or mascara can completely change someone’s self confidence.”
