Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary TD has expressed concern over announced job losses at Intel and confirmed that a range of social protection supports will be made available to affected workers.

“My immediate thoughts are with the employees and their families facing this difficult situation,” Minister Calleary said. “My Department is engaging with Intel to ensure workers are informed about the full range of income and employment supports available.”

A dedicated team from the Department of Social Protection will provide on-site support to assist workers in accessing services quickly and efficiently. This includes guidance on the new Jobseeker’s Pay-Related Benefit, which offers a weekly payment of up to €450 to eligible individuals as they transition to new employment.

In addition to income supports, the Department will offer job placement assistance, training opportunities, and advice on career development.

Minister Calleary also encouraged affected individuals to apply online via MyWelfare.ie for the fastest and most convenient access to services.

“We are committed to ensuring timely support for those impacted and helping them move forward,” he added.
