London, 21 May 2025 – British retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) announced on Wednesday that a recent cyberattack is expected to reduce its group operating profit by approximately £300 million for the 2025/26 financial year.
The company, which operates across food, clothing, and homeware sectors, confirmed the financial impact in a statement released alongside its annual results. The cyber incident, which occurred last month, disrupted operations across M&S’s food supply chain and online retail platform, leading to significant business interruption.
“Our current estimate before mitigation is an impact on Group operating profit of around £300 million for 2025/26,” the company stated.
The retailer indicated that efforts are underway to assess and mitigate the financial and operational consequences of the attack.
