The veteran actor has been cleaning it up during awards season, and it’s been truly a wonderful thing to witness. During the 2023 SAG Awards, he added another award to his mantle, and in historic fashion.
With his win for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, Quan became the first Asian male film winner in SAGs history.
The actor revealed the news during his emotional acceptance speech after his name was announced. “This moment no longer belongs to just me, it also belongs to everyone who has asked for change,” he said.
Quan also mentioned that he stepped away from acting “because there were so few opportunities,” before gesturing toward some of his Everything Everywhere All at Once co-stars and acknowledging how things have changed since then.
“The landscape looks so different now than before. So thank you so much to everyone in this room who contributed to these changes.”
“Please keep on going because the spotlight will one day find you,” he concluded.
Congrats to Ke Huy Quan on the big win! Hopefully, the Oscar is next…
