Jaguars’ Lawrence has been most-efficient QB since November

Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow are the three quarterbacks most associated with the word “elite” in the NFL right now.

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are grandfathered into that category, but it’s time to add one more name to the list of quarterbacks playing at a higher-than-high level.

This is where the Justin Herberts, Tua Tagovailoas and Jalen Hurts of the world can make their case, but there is a second-year quarterback making strides on a below-average team down in Florida that deserves a shoutout as well.

Trevor Lawrence has led the 6-8 Jaguars to two-straight wins and wins in four of their last six.

That includes a game this past weekend that saw Lawrence cooly lead the Jaguars back from a 27-10 third-quarter deficit to beat the Dallas Cowboys in overtime, 40-34.

Lawrence looked cool, calm, and collected against the Cowboys as he threw for 318 yards and four touchdowns (one interception), but he really started turning the corner in early November and there’s reason to believe that if he keeps it up — he’ll be one of the top quarterbacks in the league by the time the season is done.

In fact, Paul Burmeister recently wrote for The33rdTeam.com that he believes Lawrence is playing like a top-10 quarterback right now.

One of the main reasons for Lawrence’s stellar play is his efficiency. Burmeister passes on that his completion percentage of 70% is the best mark among NFL quarterbacks since November.

Lawrence, who has thrown for 3,520 yards and 24 touchdowns with seven interceptions this season, also boasts an incredible 14:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio in this span.

Lawrence is currently top-10 in yards thrown, top-five in touchdowns thrown and top-15 in overall completion percentage (66%).

He may not yet be at the level of Mahomes and Allen and he may never become like Brady and Rodgers, but Lawrence has certainly been one of the better quarterbacks in the league since November.

Let’s see if he can keep it up and sustain his recent success.
