Templemore, Co Tipperary — 22 August 2025
Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Jim O’Callaghan, has welcomed the attestation of 154 new probationer Gardaí at a ceremony held today at the Garda College in Templemore.

The newly sworn members of An Garda Síochána will begin their policing careers with immediate deployment to Garda Divisions across the country, as determined by the Garda Commissioner.

This marks the largest regional allocation of probationer Gardaí outside Dublin in the past year. Of the 154 officers, 66 will be assigned to the Southern Region, including 20 each to stations in Limerick City and Cork City. A further 45 will serve in the Dublin Metropolitan Region, while the remainder will be distributed across communities in the Northwest and other areas.

The Minister praised the recruits for their commitment to public service and emphasized the importance of strengthening community policing nationwide.
