In the recorded message to all 500 delegates from G20 member countries, guests and representatives of international organizations who are attending the two-day meeting, the Indian premier called for restoring stability, confidence and growth to the global economy.
Modi invited those attending the meeting to draw inspiration from the vitality of the Indian economy and from Indian consumers and producers, who are optimistic and confident about the future.
He also hoped that the other countries of the world affected by global supply chain disruptions, rising prices, and food and energy security challenges could convey the same positive spirit to the global economy as India.
Modi urged participants to focus on the world’s most vulnerable citizens, and asserted that only an inclusive agenda with global economic leadership will have an impact on the world’s confidence.
He stressed that the theme of India’s G20 presidency promotes the inclusive vision of One Earth, One Family, One Future.
In her address, Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman underscored the need to focus on and explore holistic solutions to the most pressing challenges, and pointed out that the G20 can transform life around the world by harnessing the complementary strength of its members, as well as a forum to listen to the global South, which comprises the developing countries.
She noted that the concerns and aspirations of the so-called Third World countries must be at the heart of efforts to solve global problems.
