The Hurricanes, who are hosting the event, will have a black base with a red and black version of their typical Hurricane logo. This is the first Hurricanes jersey to not include white in the logo in any capacity, but will otherwise follow a similar color pattern to the team’s current home uniform, but with a different logo. The Hurricanes have always incorporated white as a third color, but did not carry that over for this uniform.
This will be Carolina’s fourth jersey of the season after utilizing a new (old) red third jersey and the addition of a Reverse Retro.
The Capitals will have a truly unique look, with a big blue and white eagle taking up the front of the jersey and extending the arms of the eagle onto the jersey’s armbands. This is the fourth different logo used by the Capitals this season, with the main being the longstanding Capitals wordmark with the stick. The team also has the traditional retro “W” style logo used on the blue alternates and the Screaming Eagle returned for the team’s reverse retro.
This will be Washington’s fifth different jersey used in 2022-23.
The 2023 Stadium Series will take place at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina on Feb. 18, 2023. The game was initially scheduled for 2021 but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Capitals have a 3-0 record in overall outdoor games and will look to join the New York Rangers as the only 4-0 teams in outdoor game history. The Hurricanes have never played in any outdoor game, so they’ll look to become the 22nd team to win one.
