Deforestation in tropical areas (particularly in South America, Indonesia, and Sub-Saharan Africa) is being balanced out by the greening of China, India, Europe and North America.
This doesn’t mean, unfortunately, that we can relax. Global tree cover is still far below where it was before humans came along. We need to halt tropical deforestation, as tropical forests hold loads of carbon and about half the world’s animal and plant species.
