ACCRA, Oct. 23, 2025 — In a major operation targeting transnational crime, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has rescued 57 Nigerian nationals, aged between 18 and 26, from a human trafficking and cybercrime ring operating in the capital’s suburbs.
The victims were lured into Ghana with promises of lucrative employment and educational opportunities, only to be coerced into conducting online romance scams and other fraudulent activities. The raid took place at Adom Estates, Community 25, in Tema, following an intelligence-led operation by the CID’s Operations Unit.
Arrests and Evidence
Police arrested five suspects, identified as Joel Nosa, Collins Rotimi, Shadrack Lulu, Austin Amahuaro, and John Uloko, all believed to be key operatives in the syndicate.
During the operation, authorities seized:
- 77 laptops
- 38 mobile phones
- Three television sets
- Two vehicles
- Other internet-enabled devices used to facilitate the crimes

The rescued individuals are currently receiving medical care, psychological support, and temporary shelter, according to a statement from Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, spokesperson for the CID.
