Building on the success of its Eggplant Sfogliatelle, Trader Joe’s has just debuted a new Sfogliatella Pastry.
For those unfamiliar, ‘Sfogliatella’ means “small, thin leaf or layer” in Italian. The term describes the incredibly fine, crisp layers that characterize the classic Italian pastry. Trader Joe’s new Sfogliatella Pastry is made using a rigorous lamination technique to create the ridges of the pastry almost entirely by hand. After each pastry is gently hand-pressed into a wide, conical shape, the pastries are filled with a sweet ricotta cheese and candied orange peel filling. Best of all, Trader Joe’s sells these pastries frozen and ready to bake, which means you can go from the freezer to the dessert plate in less than 45 minutes.
