France to Boost Military Aid to Ukraine with €2 Billion Package

France has committed an additional €2 billion ($2.15 billion) in military aid to Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris. The new package includes anti-tank missiles, surface-to-air missiles, armored vehicles, drones, and more Mirage fighter jets, further reinforcing France’s support for Kyiv in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

Macron criticized Russia for attempting to reinterpret ceasefire agreements and added that Ukraine had already agreed to a ceasefire without preconditions. He emphasized that Russia’s ongoing attacks contradict any genuine desire for peace. Macron also stated that it is “too early” to lift European sanctions on Russia, pointing to its continued aggression in Ukraine.

The announcement comes ahead of a key summit on Thursday, where leaders will discuss additional aid to Ukraine, including strategies for bolstering long-term security and deterrence against future Russian actions, once a peace deal is reached.

Macron’s comments underscore France’s unwavering support for Ukraine, despite growing concerns over Russia’s actions and the evolving nature of the conflict.
