Flying Eagles head coach Issa Ladan Bosso has revealed that he has a say over the clubs his players sign for in the next transfer window.AFCON
Established and up and coming stars of the game will be the focus in January 2023 as the winter transfer window opens for business.
Speaking to Brila FM Lagos, the coach who led the Nigerian U-20 team to the 2022 WAFU U-20 Championship success which culminated in the qualification for the tournament in Egypt insists that it is of the essence to monitor the progress of the players before the Africa Cup of Nations.
“I would be monitoring the players. I recommend the clubs they sign for because it is important they get good clubs where their games will improve,” Bosso who was in charge of the team to the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada told Brila FM.
Meanwhile coach of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi, Baba Ganaru, has hailed the preparedness of the Flying Eagles for the Afcon and ultimately the World Cup in that category.
The Nigerian national team had defeated the Lobi side 2-0 in a friendly match.
“The U-20 were physically fit, tactically they need to work on their game though.
“They can go the distance and even qualify for the U-20 World Cup My players had not played for a while now so it affected us,” the coach admitted.
The U20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023 will be played February 18 to 12 March 2023.
The qualified countries joining hosts Egypt and Nigeria include: Tunisia, Benin, Senegal, Gambia, Uganda, South Sudan, Mozambique, Zambia, Central African Republic and Congo.
