Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley TD, has announced the establishment of five new Family Resource Centres (FRCs) in Dublin, Monaghan, Louth, Kildare, and Galway. The expansion is part of Tusla’s National Programme for 2025 and will increase the total number of FRCs nationwide from 121 to 126.

The newly approved centres are:

  • Cabra Family Community Development Group, Dublin 7
  • South Monaghan FRC Advisory Group, County Monaghan
  • Dundalk Counselling Service, County Louth
  • Leixlip Youth and Community Centre, County Kildare
  • Brú Bhríde, Tuam, County Galway

The selection followed a rigorous national application and assessment process led by Tusla and independently chaired by a University of Limerick representative. Criteria included population need, deprivation levels, child demographics, and service gaps.

Each centre will receive €160,000 annually in core funding. The Family Resource Centre National Forum will support integration and collaboration with existing FRCs.

Minister Foley described the centres as “cornerstones of local communities,” while Taoiseach Micheál Martin reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening families. Tusla CEO Kate Duggan welcomed the expansion, citing its foundation in data-driven planning and community consultation.
