HONG KONG — FedEx has added six new Mercedes-Benz eVito electric vans to its Hong Kong delivery fleet, reinforcing its commitment to achieving carbon-neutral global operations by 2040. The vehicles, each with a 913-kilogram load capacity and a 264-kilometer range per charge, are optimized for last-mile deliveries in high-traffic urban areas.
The move responds to growing consumer demand for environmentally responsible logistics, particularly among Gen Z and Millennial customers. Recent surveys show that 73% of Hong Kong consumers consider sustainability when choosing brands, and nearly half have stopped purchasing from companies that fail to prioritize environmental responsibility.
FedEx Managing Director for Hong Kong and Macau, Anthony Leung, emphasized the importance of the expansion: “Adding new EVs to our local delivery fleet underscores our commitment to enhancing Hong Kong’s contribution to FedEx global sustainability efforts”.
Beyond fleet electrification, FedEx continues to invest in initiatives such as FedEx® Sustainability Insights, a digital tool that tracks shipment-related carbon emissions. The company has also partnered with local social enterprises to repurpose unused uniforms and shipping materials, promoting circular economy practices and reducing waste.
